On Tuesday 13 December, President of Emmaus UK, Terry Waite CBE will host a book reading at Emmaus Cambridge, sharing a selection of extracts from his new book, Out of the Silence.
The book includes a moving sequence of poems and reflections that recalls the highs and lows of Terry’s life, both during his ordeal being held captive in Beirut, and throughout the happier years of his humanitarian work that have followed.
The evening will kick off at 7pm at the Cambridge community in Green End, Landbeach, located just off the A10. Tickets cost £20 and include a buffet supper and a signed copy of the book. November marks the 25th year Terry was released from captivity in Beirut. Terry’s experience in captivity gave him a great insight into the misery, isolation, fear, boredom and despair that many homeless people go through when they are experiencing homelessness.
